AUTISM SPECTRUm DISORDER

STRIP_BACKGROUND_01.jpg

The Mind Clinic provides comprehensive autism assessments for children (from 3 years of age), adolescents, and adults. Our assessments help determine whether an individual meets the criteria for an autism diagnosis and can also review existing diagnoses to offer additional insights for funding applications and support planning.

Our assessment process includes:

  • A one-on-one evaluation with the client

  • Interviews with parents, carers, or family members (where appropriate)

  • Assessing adaptive behavior and functional skills

  • Collection of background information

  • Review of past reports and documentation

Following the assessment, we provide a detailed report outlining key findings, recommended strategies, and support that may be beneficial. This report can also be used for support planning and applications for services such as the NDIS.

In some cases, additional testing—such as an ADHD assessment or cognitive assessment —may be recommended to gain a more complete understanding of an individual’s strengths and challenges. If this is needed, your psychologist will discuss it with you and explain the next steps.

ASD assessments run over 2-3 weeks and typically occur in the following stages
