Our Story
The Mind Clinic was founded by Dr Nikki Johnson in 2017 to provide her clients evidence-based psychological care in a relaxed environment. Over time Nikki opened her space to other like-minded clinical psychologists to meet the growing needs of the community. In 2022, Dr Daniel Mullens, one of the first clinicians to join The Mind Clinic, formed a partnership with Nikki and together they expanded to form four clinics in North Sydney, Mosman, Rozelle, and Balmain. All of the Psychologists who consult from The Mind Clinic are professional, energetic, and share Nikki and Daniel's dedication to helping their clients improve their quality of life, relationships and mental health outcomes.

A quick guide to starting your journey with The Mind Clinic.
Many psychologists at The Mind Clinic will have availability within two weeks of your enquiry, or sooner via telehealth. Our dedicated admin staff will be able to share information about our psychologists' availability, discuss your needs and suggest the most suitable psychologist for you.
Just yourself! You don't need a referral to make an appointment with any of our psychologists at The Mind Clinic. If the appointment is for a child or adolescent, we ask that parents or carers attend the initial assessment session to assist in developing an effective treatment plan.
The number of sessions required will depend on your goals and presenting issues. Most evidence-based treatments require between 10 and 20 sessions. If you have a history of trauma or complex family dynamics, longer-term treatment may be needed. You and your psychologist will determine the frequency of sessions.
Psychology fees at The Mind Clinic vary for Senior Clinical Psychologists, Endorsed Clinical Psychologists and Clinical Psychology Registrars. A standard session fee for a Senior Clinical Psychologist is $285, scaling down to Clinical Psychology Registrars.
All Saturday sessions incur an extra $40 fee.
Our rates are below the Australian Psychological Society (APS) guidelines for psychological service fees. The current recommended fee for a standard session with a Clinical Psychologist is $318.
You may be eligible for a Medicare rebate if you are referred by a General Practitioner under the Medicare Better Access Scheme. The rebate will vary depending on which psychologist you see at The Mind Clinic. As a guide, the current rebate for a standard session with a Clinical Psychologist is $145.25. Contact us for more details.
In line with Australian Psychological Society guidelines, cancellation fees apply when insufficient notice is given: Less than 24 hours’ notice – 100% of the session fee. Less than 48 hours’ notice – 50% of the session fee. All cancellations within the cancellation period must be made by phone to our admin team between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. As our practice administration is closed on weekends, Cancellation of Monday and Tuesday appointments must be made by Friday of the previous week to avoid a fee. Note. different cancellation fees apply to groups.
Yes, at The Mind Clinic, we offer telehealth appointments via secure video link. So, if you're feeling unwell or if a family member is unwell, please contact admin 0402 154 007.to switch your appointment to telehealth. Psychology fees for telehealth sessions are the same as for face-to-face sessions.
